Netiquette

1.                Netiquette is being nice and courteous to other users on a site. For example, don’t be mean to others, remember that cyberspace does not revolve around you, and remember that you are still talking to a human and treat them the way that you want to be treated. It affects not only the person with poor netiquette, but also the person who is being the victim of the person who has bad netiquette. Some examples of poor netiquette are correcting minor grammar errors publicly, sending people flame mail, and not respecting other people’s privacy.

Social Networking

1.       Social Networking is a site that allows users of the site to share information, pictures, and etc with other users of the site. A digital footprint is the impression and trail of information that you leave on a site, usually a social networking one. Social Networking affects digital footprints by, affecting job opportunities. For example, when you’re trying to get a job your boss can look at your photos, previous posts, and even post about the job you work at. If it is a negative output, then the boss may decide to not hire you, or if you’re currently working there, fire you.

What is Copyright?

Copyright is an illegal action of downloading music or taking information off the internet and not crediting the creator of the music or info. Copyright is legal if the site is credited and the information is put in your own words, rather than just copy and pasting the information. Another form of copyright is free downloading music. By doing this you are not giving credit or money to the original creator, but you are also putting yourself at risk if it is a peer to peer download. These types of downloads can contain, and usually will contain, many viruses. You can even copyright ideas and art by using the work as your own without crediting the original inventor.

Michael Bolton vs the Isley Brothers

The Isley Brothers had made a song in 1966; Michael Bolton made a song by the same title in 1991 with some of the same words. A lawsuit was put up against Mr. Bolton about the song. Despite Mr. Bolton and his lawyer’s argument about their not being enough evidence, the court went in favor of the Isley Brothers. The Brother’s got 5.4 million dollars at the winning of the case.

My Philippines Country Presentation

I thought that my PowerPoint was decent, but not the best compared to some others. If I were to pick a favorite part of my presentation, it was probably the section on the celebrities who have a bit of Filipino in them. If I were to pick my least favorite part, it would probably geographical location because I didn’t put much info on the page. What I learned about the Philippines was that for one it was a much nicer place then from what I heard. I also learned pretty much everything that was in my PowerPoint, in other words, I knew nothing about the Philippines. J The strong points in my presentation were probably my tourist attractions as a whole while my weak points were all the other slides. If I could give some advice for research projects in the future, I would suggest allowing more random facts in the slides to add entertainment.

2012

My highlight of 2011 was when we got a new pet puppy when my sister moved back into our house. This was good for our family as our 1st dog, Nala, had passed away in early 2011. My low point of 2011 was when my dog had passed away. If there was one thing I would have done differently would be to spend more time with Nala and be with her in her final hours (because I was asleep when it happened). My goals for 2012 are to lose weight and to spend more time with the people important to me, rather than just being away in my room from my family. If I were given $100,000 to start of the new year, I would spend about $60,ooo to help pay off the house for my family, then spend the other 20,000 on stuff for homeless people, and spend the rest on random other stuff.
